is the transparency and impact platform of the Belgian NGOs active in international cooperation and humanitarian aid.
Where are Belgian NGOs active and in which sectors? Where do their resources come from, and how do they spend them? Who is working for them? For what kind of projects?
NGO Openbook answers these questions and provides a unique insight into the work of Belgian NGOs by sharing key information about individual organisations, countries of activity and sectors of intervention, while also showcasing the impact and transparency of the whole NGO sector.

Belgian NGOs in development and humanitarian aid prioritize transparency to show how funds are used, stay accountable to donors, and enhance impact. Tools like NGO Openbook help build trust and foster collaboration by making information accessible, encouraging shared learning, and improving efficiency.
The information shared on the platform comes from official sources such as the Belgian National Bank and the International Aid Transparency Initiative (IATI), but also from voluntary contribution from the NGOs themselves, demonstrating their ongoing commitment to transparency.

Clarity in funding and actions builds lasting confidence among donors and communities.

Transparency unlocks coordination, helping NGOs work together and amplify their impact.

Open reporting shows where resources go — and what difference they make.
The site presents a profile of each NGO with information such as mission, sector(s) of activities, work in partner countries and/or in Belgium and of course, contact information to allow visitors to learn more about the organisations and their activities.
NGO Openbook shows how NGOs spend their resources—whether on development cooperation or humanitarian aid—and how those expenses are distributed (e.g. programme, structural, fundraising). It also provides insight into where their funding comes from.
A very diverse range of human resources are employed by the Belgian development and humanitarian NGOs. NGO Openbook shows this diversity and focuses on 3 types of human resources: employees in Belgium, expats and local staff.
NGO Openbook showcases selected projects from Belgian NGOs, mostly co-funded by the Directorate-General for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid (DGD) and published using the IATI standard. Each project includes a description and details about country, sector, funding, and implementation status.
